Captains’ Welcome

Welcome all,
Canwick Park Golf Club is celebrating it’s 125th
anniversary and has a reputation for great hospitality
and extends a friendly welcome to all new members
and visiting golfers. Many competitions take place
throughout the year to suit all standards of golfer.
The club plays in the Lincolnshire Handicap League
and in addition there is a very healthy fixture list of
friendly matches against other clubs, competitive
mixed fixtures and open events.
I am lucky enough to have a great team around me
who all strive to make this a great club for members
and visitors alike. The Club Manager, Kevin Leigh;
PGA Professional, Steve Williamson; Head Green
keeper, Steve Webster; and House and Bar Manager
Ian Potter, all work hard in order to make your golfing
experience as enjoyable as possible.
My fundraising focus for the year will be to enhance
the quality of the golf course, the Clubhouse and its

surroundings. Social and golfing events will be
organised throughout the year to achieve this aim.
I am fortunate enough to follow a long line of
enthusiastic and well-respected Captains, all who have
aimed to raise standards at the club and improve the
quality of the course. I will do my upmost to represent
this great club in the manner it deserves.
I wish you all an enjoyable and rewarding golfing year,
on behalf of myself and my Vice-Captain, Paul Sirrell.

Club Captain 2018/19

I would like to say thank you to Sue Brown for asking me to be her Vice Captain as it is an honour to be Lady Captain in Canwick Park Golf Club’s 125th anniversary year.

Sue will be a very hard Captain to follow as she has worked very hard during her year and was inspired at commencing the 125 club to help raise money for the club and giving members a chance to win a monthly bonus.

I look forward to having Chris Thornley as my Lady Vice Captain and with her experience and support along with my excellent ladies committee our 125th anniversary year will be successful.

Canwick Park Golf Club is a very friendly club and welcomes all golfers of all abilities. Ladies competitions are usually on a Thursday and Saturday with mixed competitions being held mostly on Sundays. Ladies have a ‘role up’ on Tuesday’s and all really enjoy playing and socialising in the clubhouse after the game.

The ladies league has successfully been promoted each year for the past 3 years and now are in Division One, which we are all very proud of. Lady friendly matches are played throughout the year and everyone has the opportunity to play at different courses by participating in these matches. We have arranged a Ladies Open on the 31st May and I would love to see as many new faces as possible –  there is an entry form on our website.

This year is the RAF’s 100 anniversary year and due to the close relationship with Lincoln and the Royal Air Force my Lady Captains Charity for the year is Help for Heroes which has provided support for two members of my family in recent years.

Canwick Park Ladies Section is growing and this year we have welcomed 6 new lady members to so far. I would like to ask if you are thinking of joining a golf club whether you are novice or experienced golfer then Canwick Park maybe the club for you, so please do not hesitate to contact me at
