The course record of Canwick Park Golf Club, held since 1997and set by Glenn Davies with a 65, was broken last weekend by Ben Brewer, who recorded an astonishing 64 – six under par.
Ben broke the record in his first round of the Club Championship, which he won following a second round of 70, which is par for the course.
After the course record was confirmed, Ben said:
“Breaking the long standing course record was really special! To have shot the lowest competitive round around Canwick Park, where I have been playing golf since I was a junior, is a real honour.”
Conditions on the day made Ben’s effort only more special, with winds needing to be factored in by the players on the day. Ben secured the record with an eagle of the 17th and a birdie on the 18th.
Manager Kevin Leigh said:
“Canwick Park has produced some superb young players over the years and it’s fantastic that one of our former junior’s has broken the course record. I think Ben’s effort will stand for many years and perhaps will never be broken.”
