Please be aware; Canwick Park is this year hosting the Lincolnshire Captain’s Day, and will therefore not be open for regular use. A list of courtesy rounds is available, and can be found on the main club noticeboard.

Golf Insurance

Members should be aware that included in their fees for 2012/13 is a payment to cover them for personal liability and personal accident for the period 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2013.

The insurance covers “Home Club” members of Canwick Park whilst playing at any golf club in the UK and for 120 days in the year when playing golf overseas. Full details of this insurance cover can be viewed in the managers office.

In addition, the insurance offers anyone who has an Hole-In-One during the Club Championship & Southcliffe Cup day (Sun 5th Aug) offering £75.00 towards their bar bill.

Practice Land Update

The club has received approval from NK District Council to change the current grazing land into golf practice land.

We hope to make the space available for members within a month or so.

For those not aware, the land is situated to the right hand side of the 6th hole (through the trees).

2012/13 Membership

The club has seen 22 members leave at the end of 2012. However the good news is that we have seen 45 new members join from 1st April. The club would like to welcome each and every one of them to Canwick Park, and hope that they will enjoy the coming year.

Juniors

The juniors remain unbeaten at home, having won 3-0 against Market Rasen, and 2-1 against Carholme, winning on the 18th with a birdie in the final match.

The next Juniors match is due to take place on Monday 16th April at Woodhall Spa, starting at 11am

Club AGM

Members are reminded that the club AGM will take place on Wednesday 7th March, at 7pm in the Clubhouse. Membership fees are now up on the website, and can be collected at the meeting.

Captain’s Thank You

Many of you will be aware that my Captain’s charity this year, jointly with the Lady Captain Chris Dixon, was St Francis School in Lincoln.

On the 15th December Chris and I, together with the President Pete Musson, presented a cheque for £1500 to the school which they will use towards the cost (approximately £6000) of sensory equipment to be used by the younger children.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all the members who have supported our charity throughout the year by playing in our charity day competition and buying raffle tickets etc. St Francis School is very close to our hearts as Chris’ grandson Aaron is a pupil and we have seen how happy he is there and how dedicated the staff are.

Captains’ Charity 2011

Today Captain Tony Thornley & Lady Captain Chris Dixon presented a cheque for £1500 to the St Francis School Fund.

The monies raised during the year in support of the Captains’ Charity for 2011 were a result of events and raffles held at the club in 2011, and supported by members.

Seniors AGM

The Senior’s AGM was held at the club yesterday (14th December 2011). The Senior section continues to grow at the club, and hopes to have another good year in 2012.

2011 Seniors Captain Mr Stewart McCracken passed the baton to Mr Geoff Brown for 2012, with Mr Bob Taylor becoming Vice-Captain. Mr Len Charlton retired as Seniors Secretary after 13 years in the role. Len’s contribution during that period is greatly appreciated by all members. Len is succeeded by Mr John Smith, who was welcomed by all the seniors as he takes on his new duties. The club welcomes John, and offers its best wishes for his future in the role.

Final Juniors Training Session of 2011

George Wilkinson will hold the final training session of 2011 this weekend;

This will be a 1 hour session on Saturday the 3rd December, starting at 10am.

Training dates for 2012 will be posted at a later date, please keep watching!
